How to make a scratching post with bed?
It’s my cat’s birthday soon and I’ve bought her a scratching post. But I want to make a cat bed to go on top like some I’ve seen in places like the Argos catalogue. I’ve got material and padding, but I’m wondering what to use as a bed base strong enough to support my cat, and how to attatch the bed to the rounded top of the post. Help!

Most kitty condos are made with heavy guage Sono Tubes covered with outdoor carpeting and non-toxic glue (I prefer not to use staples). Supports are wood with rope wrapped around them. I usually go to pet stores for inspiration and create off those ideas.
For scratching areas, make sure the unit has a good base or tacked to the wall. Bedding can be the synthetic wool you pick up at a mega-mart with a fabric department.

Not quite sure how to ans this.
I used two 1"x3" and placed a [ ] frame between them that had canvas steched (not tight) in it. (so it was like a hammock) Then wrapped the boards with sisal rope… which my cats LOVE to scratch!
I attached the boards to a base with L brackets which really kept it secure. Worked great. ( so a bed on top using L brackets would work)
