I put mine in the laundry room and don’t allow my dog to go anywhere near the laundry room. You could also try putting it up high somewhere so that the dog can’t reach it. Since cats can easily climb, it shouldn’t bother the cat too bad.
put him in the cage every time he gets on it, then he’ll understand hes doing the wrong thing and hell stop.
Spray him with a water bottle. that should teach him.
we have it in a room and put a gate across so only the cat can get in
it’s a gate you would usually use for little kids to prevent them from going like down the stairs or something
every time he gets in yell no and then isolate him for a while. he’ll eventually stop
I concur with the last poster–
A good spot for the cat box (and food) is to put it up high out of the dog’s reach.
Placing the catbox on the washer or dryer in the laundry room is an ideal spot. If you have a dog who’s interested in that litter box you aren’t going to easily talk him out of going into it!
And, if you have problems with the dog eating cat food (dogs love cat food….cat food is higher in fat content than dog food, so dogs love it) then you might need to place kitty’s food dish on the kitchen counter.
You might want to position the opening toward the wall with just enough space to allow cats to enter.Or if you can place litter box in a room with a door that closes, put a cat door on the door to the room.Maybe a chain latch on the door adjusted just enough for the cats to enter.
Its kinda gross, but dogs really love the stuff.Good Luck!!!
Every time he tries to get in the cat box beat him with an ugly stick
We have the same problem. And I dont really know how to fix it, all I have to say is in regards to the other posters that say to hit the dog when it gets in there, or put him in the cage or isolate it, that is a terrible idea. Isolating a dog by putting it in its cage will teach it that his cage is a bad thing, and when its bed time, or you have to leave and need to put it up he will feel like he has done something wrong, which can lead to even more behavior problems because he is confused. I like the poster that said to turn it around to face the wall, I am going to try that myself. Good Luck.
