How often should I change my cat's cat box?
I have one adult cat in a one bedroom apartment and she never goes outside. I use clay cat litter and I like to keep things clean. Is once a week enough, or should I step up and clean it more often?

If you scoop the box every day and have some baking soda mixed in with the litter, dumping the box once a week is ideal. You also need to wash the box. (I keep a spare so I can just change it out and wash it later.) If it seems too stinky, then change it out sooner.
depends on how dirty it gets .every 3 days and scrub the box every 7 days.
{put an air freshner near it)lol
its much easier to manage if you just scoop out the big stuff every day and change it completely once a week.
Hi. I have one male cat and truthfully i hated the clay cat litter. He would get in there and kick that litter all over the floor then when you tried to clean it up he would come galloping down the hall and jump in the fresh cat litter, roll around then jump up like someone gave him an electric shock!!! HORRIBLE!. Finally i went with the Wal-Mart brand of scoopable cat litter. Every day after dinner i go and fetch the pooper scooper and sift thru the assorted fecal matter and balled up lumps of urine and dispose of it in a Wal-Mart bag. Out to the trash it goes. Then every month i empty nearly half of the old kitty litter and dump in some new. Needless to say it smells a lot fresher, the cat will love you for it, and its a lot more appealing to the eyes than your standard clay litter. Heres to you.
I have two cats and scoop the poo out and any obvious wet patches every day. I change the whole thing over once a week. This is plenty for one cat.
I am an absolute neat freak so I know just how you feel. I use a paper based litter so I’m not sure what the absorbency difference is to the clay one you use. I scoop little messes daily and if there is a really wet spot I will remove that too. I only replace the litter once a week. Otherwise you’ll spend a fortune on litter! Just go with what ever feels right, maybe every 4-5 days rather than every 7.
Well, I would say that if you’re ok with how your apartment smells, and kitty doesn’t object, then you’re ok! I only scoop mine out about once a week, too, because I’m so lazy, but I have a secluded place to put the box so it doesn’t stink up the house. I use clumping cat litter and also a baking soda deodorizer. I add fresh litter as needed and every few weeks I dump it all and start fresh.
I would say everyday. If you don’t then it can step in its filth and then that may get to other parts of your house. Plus would you want to step in a dirty toliet to use it?
If not everyday then every other day. Plus it is healthier for them to do that. Make sure you change out all the litter too at least once a month
Please scoop your cat’s litter everyday. My cats both have had bouts with urinary tract infections and can get very sick if you don’t because of them scratching around in there. They can kick up bacteria into themselves. The cleaner the box, the less chance of that happening. I’ve learned the hard way so I scoop everyday and then do a total cleaning every 7 days. Kitties like a clean toilet and so does their health.
I scoop once a day and replace the content once a month. With my 4 cats there is no malodor that way. Never figured a reason to replace content more frequently as it can get very expensive
