Why didnt you just call around to vets in your area and ask them how much it cost? I don't get it why people come here to ask for something like this when they know they are going to get ragged on and why they dont simply pick up the phone and make a few phone calls. In that case I chose to declaw and was told to do them both so that my other guy wouldnt try and beat up the defensless guy. I got lucky and my guys have no problems. I believe if you are doing it to keep your things from getting messed up, you shouldnt do it. Clip their nails. Buy some ratty furniture, use sprays, whatever. I believe for just the front paws, my vet quoted me $225. She came through the surgery fine, and enjoys her new-found freedom since we don't have to worry about damage anymore. I used to be a vet assistant, and I have seen the traditional method being done. It IS cruel. They literally just rip the claw out. The laser is way more humane, and less painful for your cat. The laser itself just makes the incision, as opposed to ripping it off. There is less bleeding, swelling, pain and chance for infection. The bandages usually don't need to stay on that long, and their recovery time is almost 100% faster than the tradtional method. But you should still get pain medication and antibiotics.
