How much does Declawing front two paws of a cat cost?
DO NOT ANSWER HERE IF YOU ARE GOING TO GIVE ME A LONG MONOLOGUE ABOUT THE CRUELTY OF DECLAWING A CAT.
I am very well informed of the procedure–thank you.
We have to kittens (9 months) who have destroyed everything, including an item very close to my heart that my father left to me when he passed away. I didn’t want to have to do this, but we have tried softpaw cat nail covers, scratching posts, cat towers, everything we can and now I am doing this.
I was just wondering how much I should expect to pay for the two kittens. If you have any ideas please let me know.
No "declawing is cruel posts". Seriously. Don’t waste your breath.
As I said, I am fully aware of the procedure. I made that clear and thank you to those people not wanting to hear themselves talk, or type as it may be.
I appreciate the level-headed and responsive answers posted. Thanks to you guys.

lol…you knew you were going to get it when you came here to ask this. Why didnt you just call around to vets in your area and ask them how much it cost? I don’t get it why people come here to ask for something like this when they know they are going to get ragged on and why they dont simply pick up the phone and make a few phone calls.
Personally, I have 2 fully declawed cats. I got mine declawed because my big guy hated children and my new husband had a 2 year old that my cat would attack. I mean literally attack, and the child was doing nothing. After he missed he barely missed her eye, I had to make a hard choice. It was either take him to the shelter where he probably would have been put down or declaw him for the safety of my childs eyes, limbs, skin. In that case I chose to declaw and was told to do them both so that my other guy wouldnt try and beat up the defensless guy. I got lucky and my guys have no problems. I believe if you are doing it to keep your things from getting messed up, you shouldnt do it. Clip their nails. Buy some ratty furniture, use sprays, whatever. I would NEVER do it again.
how would you like you fingers and toes cut off. it should be illegal and everyone who does declaw their cats should be done and put in prison with their fingers and toes cut off. you are not informed of the pain andsuffering off the cats. and how dangerous it is should they get out they would not be able to defend them selves or climb trees to get out of the way of danger. my cats arenot declawed and cannot be due to where i live but they are trained to use a scratching post (thier post takes up a corner of the room and gors from floor to ceiling they have been trained to use it since they were tiny and their kittens were taught as soon as they could walk). i also trim my cats claws every fortnight without fail. so they can’t scratch us. cats do get out even if people say they can’t trust me my tom tries every now and again and has come a cropper once or twice with the dog who lives in the same building claws are needed. if you didn’t want your property damaged you should got fish. i know i am wasting my breath but i have woked with rescue cats that someone brought from the USA that were declawed and they were in constant pain unable to walk properly and one had claws regrowing that got infected he ended up losing his leg but we did find loving homes for them. please consider the risks of incredible and dibilatating pain this will cause if you can not cope with them clawing things then rehome them to some one who will love them for what the are cats not cute lil playthings to do what you will with and cause so much suffering too.
I had my cat declawed on all 4 paws 2 months ago and it was $275. I believe for just the front paws, my vet quoted me $225. She came through the surgery fine, and enjoys her new-found freedom since we don’t have to worry about damage anymore.
This is a very heated topic!!! Yes, there are a lot of people who think it’s cruel and inhumane, but the bottom line is it’s YOUR choice. That being said, please consider having the surgery done with a laser. I used to be a vet assistant, and I have seen the traditional method being done. It IS cruel. They literally just rip the claw out.
The laser is way more humane, and less painful for your cat. The laser itself just makes the incision, as opposed to ripping it off. There is less bleeding, swelling, pain and chance for infection. The bandages usually don’t need to stay on that long, and their recovery time is almost 100% faster than the tradtional method. But you should still get pain medication and antibiotics.
I had the option when I worked at my local humane society to have all 3 of my cats done for $150. But I couldn’t do it. I just knew how painful it would be for them. I had the laser method done, and it cost me over $600 (but again, this is for 3 cats). They recovered quickly and are all as happy, healthy and active as they were before (and far less destructive). Don’t be put off by having to spend a little more- it’s worth every penny!!!!
ok, I’m confused. Why would come on hear to ask a question like that? Why not just ring your vet and ask???
I think some people just want to start an argument and then sit back and watch everyone arguing.
WOW, YOU PPL DONT LISTEN AND HOLD YOUR BREATH DO YOU? 1st of all to all you preachersDid you read this that he tried things first, also you all need to do your research, andYES its going to hurt, just like a surgery would you, and Ive never heard of them becoming biters or stop using the litterbox. And ONLY do just the front so if they do get out they CAN protect themself because they roll on there back and use there hind claws, and my cat was even able to still climb trees WHEN he got out.And they wont remember it as they get older so the one that said "it will emotionally mess them up" WHAT, its a 1 time thing, not like they are being abused over n over again. I AM a BIG animal lover and DONOT condone animal abuse in ANY WAY and I dont think this really is.What about spay/neuter and cropping tails and ears? Is that? They have changed the way they do this now. And what makes this bad IS WAITING as they get older. I did with one of mine and she took longer to heal bacause she is heavy and messed with them and jumped up and down and they shouldnt move much after IF you can help it. So do your research call your local SPCA and ask them who is reasonable and good luck, and screw them haters, none of them had to lose something personal and they are not living in your shoes. The cats WILL BE FINE!
Depends where you live, around here (Miami, FL) it goes for about $200.00 per cat (just the front paws) and that does not include any medication that they prescribe after surgery. I have been saving to get my 2 cats declawed, since they are strictly indoor cats, and try as I might will not stop scratching the couch!!
call ur vet .. its diffrent at every office ..
No breath necessary. IF you did your research…you would know the costs.
Where I am from the procedure is no longer done, but back when it was it was around 150.00 – I know it was a lot more than having them spayed or neutered. Hey – you gotta do what you gotta do!!
I would find the clinic who does the most humane declaw, uses top of the line pain management, and takes the best care of your cats if you really feel you must have this done. Ask for not only price but pain management protocol. Are they spayed & neutered – you may be able to have this done at the same time.
Some cats will outgrow scratching behavior and there are a lot of things to try before going for a surgery like this.
Clip their toe nails. Ever think of that? Not to mention, the are kittens. OF COURSE they are going to scratch. And Unless you intend on getting your fingers cut off at the knuckles too, don’t have it done.
Are you also aware that most declawed cats become biters? and stop using the littler box? Are you really willing to take that on? Not to mention if they get outside for any reason…they will have NO means of defense? Thus giving them less of a chance to make it home alive?
Think before you act. they are kittens for god’s sake.
If you have a Dremel tool you can sand the claws down so they are not so sharp. I had a cat that lived to be 21 years old and my parents forced me to have her declawed when she was about nine years old. At the end of her life the joints broke down and she looked like she was walking on rabbit feet. If I had it to do over I would have selected another choice for her. Just think about it!
Do NOT declaw your cat.. that’s cruel and inhumane.. Imagine having the last knuckle from your fingers chopped off.. that’s the human equivilant of what you’re doing… Your cat will never be the same emotionally either.. Please DON"T do it.. Trim the nails, they also sell plastic covers for the nails… If you can’t live with a cat’s nails.. Don’t adopt a cat.

I don’t agree with you but you will need a call several vets in the area, choose a good one, because they can do a bad job. I understand they are now removed by laser surgery.
It depends on your area. Around 150-300 per cat is about right. They will need to spend a couple days there. Make sure its a reputable place.
Also–sanding nails down or clipping them for me, has always proven not to work. After you clip them, or sand them, most cats will scratch again to sharpen them.
im sorry u have to do this and i have no idea of cost because it is something i wouldnt dream of considering no matter wat she did! u should kno that yes cats may ruin things wen u get them!!
i should think it would cost alot though! y not resaerch the price on the net first?
I will not be silenced: It’s it cruel. Have you ever seen the animals days after? THEY ARE IN PAIN.
Talk to an animal behaviorist and see what else you can do.
Honor your father’s memory by not being cruel to your animals.
It would be better to find another home for them with someone who won’t declaw.
It’s a emphamism for amputation of all fingers and toes.
I will not be silenced. If you really understood, you would not be considering it.
I think that someone should rip your nails out and see how you like it. At 9 months you need to train them not blame them.
They remove the growth plate behind the nails, they dont cut off the toe to the knuckle. of course its going to hurt, its a procedure, same as if your were going to get a ingrown toenail removed. Instead of going after the guy that wants the declaw, go after the vets that perform the declaws. attack the vets that perform declaws, and hopefully they declaw you so you people stop attacking. he can do whatever he wants as long as hes not abusing the cats, and the same with you crazy people.
