How much attention does a siamese cat need?
Please only answer if you have personally owned a siamese cat. How much attention on average do they need? Give me a run-through of a typical day. Do they follow you around everywhere? Want you to play with them all the time? How do they demand your attention? And will they get jealous of other pets?

Siamese are extremely people oriented, and need attention. They are very interactive and ‘in-your-face’ cats. Many of them are needy and clingy, and expect to be with you every minute you are home. Many of them are very vocal as well (translation – noisy) and expect you to carry on a conversation with them. They are no more jealous of other pets than any other kind of cat, although they do expect to be given their attention first. They are not the cat for everyone – if you want an independent cat, this isn’t it. It’s their personality – and voice – that makes them the #2 breed surrendered to shelters. People who appreciate the breed, however, would have nothing else.
Siamese are very social cats. They do tend to want to help out with everything you are doing and give their opinion while helping.
It helps if you adopt 2 kittens so they will keep each other company and not be so dependent on people. Never get a Siamese under 3 months old (4 months is better). They are slower in development in social behaviors and act worse (clinging, etc.) if taken before 3 months old.
I have 2 Siamese. Seal Point and a Blue Point. Both are rescues from kittens.
Super cats. Extremely friendly. Love to hang with you. Follow you around, lie on your lap.
Love to play and are extremely smart. You have the time, you can teach a Siamese how to fetch.
They do need a lot of attention, which is why most siamese owners have two cats. They like to meow a lot.
My mother used to have one, and she says they need a lot of love.
I adore Siamese cats, and I have owned several. They are usually very loving, and very social. Of course all cats are different, but as a rule Siamese need more attention than most other cats. The idea of getting another kitten is a good one. They also form strong bonds with other cats as well, and this will take some of the pressure off of you. Be prepared for lots of cuddles. Every time you sit down, your Kitty will want to join you.
My Siamese cats have always wanted to be around me all of the time and they loved to talk in their kitty voices, and yes, they expected me to answer them. They love to cuddle, snuggle, and sit right under you. I’ve had one or two who were slightly independent but for the most part they are extremely social cats. They were close to me like lint on black pants close. I didn’t mind it though. When I was a stay at home Mommy a long time ago the cat’s were great company. And as for them being jealous, mine weren’t as long as they never felt ignored. Here’s an example. If I gave the persian a snack I gave the siamese a snack. If I gave the baby a bottle, I gave the siamese a treat. If I talked to my husband, I made a random passing comment to the siamese. LOL! All of my siamese were delightful members of my family and I loved them dearly. Oh, if they’re going to be at home alone, I strongly recommend having more than one Siamese.
If a Siamese cat wants attention, it will let you know. They’re very social cats and total lovebugs. My Siamese cat Maizee is pretty mellow and will usually sleep somewhere or play with cat toys laying around my house or my other cats but sometimes she will not leave me alone. She will chase or follow me around and talk nonstop. I love her but she drives me crazy sometimes.
