How do you train a dog to use a litter box ?

Hello,
I’ve been considering buying a dog (probably a pup since it’ll be easier to train) and want to train it to use a litter box. I don’t want to scoop after a dog every now and then and want help in training it. If any of you knows a way to train a dog to use a litter box please let me know.

My dog never used the litter box, he just ate the litter, so we got rid of it. It’s not a cat, try taking it for a walk.
The same way you train a dog to do anything else by praise and reward when it gets it right. It may be difficult as a dogs natural instinct is to go to the toilet away from it’s sleeping area. Also beware, sometimes dogs like to bury their mess and scratch the ground close by after going, so he may fire doggy poo all over the room!

my advice to you is to GET A CAT instead
First it has to be a really big litter box. I guess Its like teaching him to go outside. I was able to train my dog to go in the shower area of our bathroom in our condo. He does this when he really has to go and no one’s home to take him out yet. But he prefers the outdoor. It started when i came home with mess in our hallway. I scolded him and brought him to the bathroom saying okay go weewee (he knows this term) cause it was raining hard outside. Surprisingly, he apparently understood and occly, but not too often, I see pee (once a doody) in the bathroom. i just wash the pee and disinfect. Unfortunately I had to pick up and flush the doody and do massive disinfecting. If your successful tell us about it.
