I think what you are doing is really sweet, and that you are a wonderful person, well here are some of my suggestions.
Toys:
* Mouse toys
* Balls
* Scratching Posts
* Anything with a nice bell or something
* Rope, cats love chasing Rope.
* Cat Tunnels.
Bed:
* You can use some Blankets, and put baskets under them.
* Or let them sleep on old couches.
Food:
* Just buy a big bag of cat food, like the Whiskas Big Bag!
* Water of course.
* A couple of bowls to hold them.
Litter Box:
* You can just let them go outside, because they will just bury it, and it won’t stink too much!
And well, that’s just the basics.
Here are some Extras:
* Shampoo, For when they really dirty!
* Combs, to brush, them if they get their fur tangled, for the long-haired, it happens!
* Towels if you wash them, in the cold! They can get sick sometimes!
* Cats also like these foods:
- Popcorn and Corn with Salt.
- Watermelon.
- Ice cream!
- Milk
- and Sour Yogurt, not fruit yogurt!
* Collors, in case they get lost!
Well, that’s pretty much it! I hope i helped =]xx
Put out the word to all your relatives, friends, neighbors that if they have any old washable towels, blankets, rugs please donate and they can give you the cardboard centers from toilet paper and towel paper rolls (cats love to tear these up and roll them around). You can make aluminum foil balls to toss around for the cats to chase (easily replaceable when they get lost or squashed). You can tie string to the end of a dowel stick and play fishing for cat (fish). Cats love tearing up loofahs. Ask your friends and relatives to clip cat food and cat litter (and any other cat-related) coupons for you. You might be able to get some older kids to come in and help out–teach them how to do the laundry so all those towels and blankets can be washed regularly, have them refill food bowls and water bowls (wash the ones that are getting dirty), brush the cats, scoop the boxes, etc. in exchange for future job references if they do a good, reliable job. Ask around to the local pet shops and pet food shops to see if any will give you discounts because you are a rescue place. And network with similar places. Also look into the laws for your area–some places you cannot keep more than X number of dogs/cats unless you get licensed as a breeder or rescue place and you have to be regularly inspected.
