Never use disinfectant which turns milky in water, they are potentially poisonous to animals. Use a pet safe disinfectant once a week. In between just wash well with dish soap and hot water. Keep it away from food preparation surfaces when you do it…preferably do it outside and wear gloves or wash your hands thoroughly when done;
i don’t have a cat but i would wash it in the tub!!!!
well when i clean my cats litter box i take it outside and rinse it out with a hose after i dumped the litter out and spray it with lysol and scrub it out
I use anti bacteria soap and water and just make sure it is rinsed very well.
I always wash it outside with either hot soapy water or a solution of disinfectant and rinse with clear hot water, i always put litter tray bags in the clean tray which can be tied up and out into the waste bin, i use wooden pellets in the tray which turn into sawdust, i’ve also heard that products like Lysol are a bad idea becauce cats think another cat’s used the tray because of the ammonia.
A disinfectant is fine. But remember, cats are attracted to the litterbox partially due to their own scent being in it. It doesn’t have to be a scent we, as humans, can smell. If you clean it too well and have a certain type of cat, you may find your cat will refuse to use the litterbox after its cleaned with chemicals.
Bleach and a little bit of detergent in hot water. Rinse well.
Take it outside with a hose if you can, and then clean with diluted bleach and rinse well. Best not to use your kitchen sink.
dump out all the old litter, then you can scrub it in the bath tub if all the litter is out
then, put some old newspaper in the bottom and then put the box with the paper in it into a garbage bag and tie the bag
then put the litter into the box on top of the garbage bag and it will be much easier to clean next time
okay i think you mean a total cleaning. i just take it outside and wash it with soap and water. i also put a layer of baking soda on the bottom, and then fresh litter
