I have a problem with my 3 1/2 year old male cat getting into fights. He doesn’t usually have battle wounds, but has had 2 vet visits due to the same thing, bite wounds. Once he had to have the site lanced while under sedation. The other because the wounds did not heal due to this licking.
*He has been neutered. He has had all of his shots and has tested negative for flv and fiv. He got the feline leukemia vaccine.
*He is a bit territorial, but I noticed it was only after we moved, hence, new animals, etc. The fighting has stopped, but he has the leftovers still. He was in a fight where he had 4 bites. Now, reduced to one. This was actually rather small initially, but he kept licking it until he ate (gross) the scab off-now has 2 divits in the sore because of the angle he has to turn his head.
*The vet suggests cleaning, antibiotic ointment and if that doesn’t work to get a daytrol rx. The cone doesn’t work. Anything out there OTC I can use that tastes bad, but is safe to use?
