How do I stop my cat from climbing in my box springs?
I have a very active kitty who is about 1 year. She has completely shredded the material under my box springs and climbs into it and destroys anything her little paws touch! She loves to do this while I am trying to sleep and it drives me crazy! I have no idea how to stop her from doing this. Does anyone have a genius idea of how to keep her out of my box springs? Does anyone know of a way to maybe baby proof my bed so that she can’t get in there?

There are several ways you can do this.
The easiest and no cost way is to remove your bed frame and place the box spring directly on the floor. This is probably not going to be aesthetically pleasing or the most comfortable solution for you though.
Another way that wouldn’t cost too much would be to get some plywood sheet(s) cut to fit on your bedframe and then place the box spring on top of the plywood.
Solving the ‘destroy anything her little paws touch’ problem is simple… Trim her nails regularly. If you’ve never done it before have a vet or groomer show you how. The first few times may be difficult (she will probably resist you), but she will get used to it and subsequent trimmings will get progressively easier. I had a cat that by the time she was a few years old would actually lay on her back with her paws up asking for a trim! LOL She would always do this when her nails got long enough to stick to the carpet! She was one smart kitty…
Hope this helps. Good luck!
You may have to keep her in a carrier at night if this continues. Kittens are very curious so it’s good to try and keep the cat away from the thing they’re wanting to get at. Have you tried blocking the area with boxes or furniture? Or you could take some trash bags and tape over the springs so she can’t get to them or in there.
Go with Delilah’s suggestion…….A cheap piece of thin plywood cut to size will solve the problem without any change to the appearance or comfort of your bed.
I had the same problem with my cat and she never grew out of it, she is now about 4 1/2 and as the answer above suggested there are may options. First off you should pull the fabric sheet off from under your box spring, it serves no actual purpose other than to be aesthetically pleasing which I imagine it isn’t now that its been destroyed, and as long as it is there she will try to climb in and lay on the very comfortable hammock she has created. If she still continues to climb in and lay on the wood, you can fill the under space with storage containers, its a great way to keep your house looking neater and free of unneeded clutter or you can store your winter/summer clothes in them off season and it blocks the cat from being able to get under and destroy the box spring. The other option which my boyfriend and I did is to measure and cut sheets of plywood to the dimensions of the space between the box spring and the floor and screw them into your bed frame (if it’s metal) blocking the space. If you want to still be able to access under your bed for little stuff like shoes, etc you can screw the wood in with hinges giving you basically wood flaps around the edge so that you will be able to lift the wood but it will be too heavy for your cat to squeeze through.
And of course always keep her nails trimmed b/c if you take away one thing for her to scratch, chances are she’ll just move onto something else you don’t want her scratching either.
Hope you find a solution!
I agree with Delilah. Trim her nails and pick up some soft paws claw covers- they work miracles to keep kitty from scratching apart things. Then pick up a cheap piece of thin plywood to place under your boxspring. Foam-board works as well and is usually cheaper than plywood.
Had that problem with my old bed when I had a box spring. My deceased cat had made a hole in it and used to sleep in there. When I adopted another cat, she would hurt herself in there so I took a blanket and I stapled it to the sides of the box spring. Problem solved…
Mine did that to my bed what I did was took the box spring off the bed, placed plywood on the frame then put the box spring back on. Problem solved!!!!
