How do I keep my cat from using our bed as his own personal trampoline?
Our cat will run through the bedroom, pounce on the bed, and use it as a spring board to jump in the air and run out of the room again. We get no warning. We just get the full weight of his little kitty body pouncing on us in the middle of the night.
Now, my guy is pretty big. He’s over twice the size of my little girl kitty and he’s all muscle.
How can I keep him from doing this? I can shut the door but he will spend the next 2-3 hours pawing at it till it opens.
Any ideas?

My large cat does that too. AND he paws at the door if its shut. So I put a shoe behind the door to make the door open just enough for them to fit through. That helps because when they start running in it slows them down.
We also have 2 cat trees(I rubbed cat nip on the trees for them) and a basket full of toys in the living room, that’s their area now and they know it. So they stay away from our room and would rather playing in the living room, but every once in awhile, 2 cats will get riled up and come running through.
Good Luck Hope I helped
ummm this just cracks me up because i have a small kitty who does this with a rocking chair in our living room. sorry no idea of how to stop this sorry
Yeah, CLOSE THE DOOR WHEN YOU GO TO BED!
It sounds like your cat has a lot of energy and he needs to release it. What you need to do is play hiding go seek with your cat to get him to settle down at night. A cat will play hiding go seek because I had a cat that did the same thing your cat did but she was a siamese and I had to get her to settle down before I went to bed. I ran her tired so she would sleep at night. Are you giving your cat cat nip because that will get a cat to get wild and run around. Get a toy with a string on it with a toy at the end of it and drag it around the house to get the cat to settle down. I hope this will help. Good luck.
your cat needs to know that their are consequences for doing that, only they can’t understand you. Stay awake one night, and wait for him to jump, when he does, whack him enough that he goes off course, and that it hurts him a little, not enough though to injure him, just enough to let him know that that is not acceptable. After the first time, he will probably go off to lick his wounded pride, and then come back to do it again, you need to be consistent, and whack him again, other wise he will think he is the boss, when really you are. He will probably do this 2 or 3 times before he figures it out. This will mean one sleepless night, maybe two, but then he will respect you.
Don’t let him push him further than you want to go.
Hope this helps!
he really just has to learn to spend nights alone, it will take while to get him used to it. i might help if you play with him a lot before bed to tire him out, i even give my cats a small portion of their favorite wet cat food, after playing and eating a little they usually will go lay down and give up the crazy cat routine for awhile
