How do I clean out a cat carrier of urine smells?
On sunday I took my cat Pepper to the vet cause she was sick and brought her back home. She peed in the carrier but on her bed but it soaked thru. Pepper died Wednesday of pneumonia.
What should I clean rthe carrier out with?
I will wash the bed for my new kitten so it has somewhere to sleep until it can climb the cat tower. My cats love laying there and playing in it.
I am picking out a new kitten next saturday cause I am still grieving my cat and so is my mom.

See u are getting ready for the new arrival…
I would first wash it with bleach and water..
then again.. with something like Pine-Sol.. to smell fresh..
then put it out in the sun for a couple of days..
Good luck.. my friend.
First, I am sorry for your loss. I know its hard losing a member of your family.
I would try warm water and vinegar. It won’t smell so good in the beginning but let it soak for a bit then rinse with some warm water and dish soap.
Wash your carrier with a good anti-bacterial soap, then wipe it down with bleach mixed 1part bleach 3parts water. then place it outside in direct sun for a least three days. We used to show dogs and the equipment like dumbbells and all others for retrieving could not have your dogs odor on it and that was what the recommended to remove all smells. I would be sure to use a soap that has really good anti-bacteria properties for the bed also. You want to make sure there are no germs floating around in any part of the carrier or bed. I’m sorry to hear of your loss. Please go to the animal shelter to rescue a kitten when you are ready to bring home another little ball of fun. I have two cats right now and the joy they bring is so wonderful. Of course they are totally different, one is demanding of your attention wanting to be held all the time, the other is a terror on four feet and only wants to be petted when she decides it’s time, then only for a very few minutes and she’s off and racing through the house. The terror is Jenna and she’s 5 yrs. and Miss Pushy is about 3. We lost our last cat Cotton when he was 19. We pray we have these two that long too.
I am so very sorry. I had to put my kitty down last spring. I still miss him. I have a new kitty and she is wonderful but I will never forget my boy.
I would suggest going to WalMart. In their sporting good section they sell a detergent made for hunters. It removes all of the human scent from their clothing. I would think it would work on both the cat carrier and the kitty bed. I used it on blankets and it worked perfectly. It’s made by SnoKing and I think it is called Sport Wash. I would put some in a bucket of water and froth it up, then dip a sponge or rag in the soapy water and use it to soap down the carrier. Rinse with clean water and dry it.
Good luck with your new kitty!!
