How can i train my bunny to use her litter box?
please only answer this question if you know what a rodent litter box looks like. you know the ones you clip on their cage and there is no litter.
my bunny only uses her box when i put her food in it. and then she tips her food and i only feed her once a day because she will get overweight if i feed her more then that. she is a small breed of rabbit, a mini rex. how can i train her to use her litter box without putting her food on top?
p.s. i already put the box in the corner she goes to the bathroom the most.
by the way the tray of the litter box is covered by wires, so she an’t get to anything inside th tray.

I say get a bowl that attaches to the cage and that will stop her dropping her food problem.and if u get a bowl that attaches to the cage u can put it up higher and it will build her hindquarters up.
for the litter box problem all i would dp is get a few of spaz’s droppings and put them in her litter box.she might get mad and still not do it but soon or later she will get the picture.it is almost like training a cat too. if see her pooping then set her in her cage and say this is where u go to the bathroom.
hope i helped.

I think I spotted your trouble. You’re using a rodent litter box and the rabbit is not a rodent. It’s a lagomorph.
place your food dishes up so the bunny has to lift its head to eat, drink.bunnies cant be potty trained. your bunny will only get fat if you portion the food. leave out plenty of food and it will only eat what and when it wants.
As completely unpleasant as this sounds, I spealize in the training and care of animals, and to litter train a rabbit you first have to put the litterbox in the spot they use most to go to the bathroom, which you’ve done, and the next is to put their droppings in the litterbox… Most rabbits will get frustrated with you and carry the droppings back out, but don’t give up.
I had a Checkered Giant mix rabbit for a pet I trained for a littler box. I just used a regular cat litter box for him.
I put goat manure that I bought from the garden center in the box. Every time my rabbit went to the bathroom I would put him and some of his poo in the box too. Before too long this is where he would do his business. After a while I was able to use cat litter instead of the goat manure.
He was able to run loose in the house as long as we watched he didn’t chew on things he wasn’t suppose to.
Grate pet to have, good luck on the training. It will take some patience and time.
if you go to the pet store they sell a litter just for small animals. You might want to try that. also if the bunny pours it food out invest in a bowl that attaches to the cage. This might help with the problem.
