Cats use litter trays because it is their instinct to cover up whatever they do, if they do the toilet outside they cover it up. Therefore, trying to teach a cat to use the toilet is absurd, and cruel. Leave the poor cat alone to follow its own instincts and forget about teaching it to use the loo.
there is a litterbox that will fit in a toilet bowl. You have to get them used to using the litterbox there for a while and then you take away the box. You could ask your local pet store if they carry those types of boxes.
Well i was just watching meet the parents tonight and the father said he would put the little box in the toilet and when the cat got used to it they took the litter box out.
Repeatedly hurt it whenever it tries to use the cat box and repeatedly reward it whenever it goes into the bathroom to pee.
Take it into the bathroom the next time it tries to pee, hold it at an appropriate position on the toilet and once it’s done give it a reward.
Rinse (literally, perhaps) and repeat.
Google it up….there is actually a few training videos out there.
why would you want to force your cat to do something so unnatural. it is a natural instinct to use a litter box. let your cat be a cat
if you think youv just seen a photo of a cat using toliet go to youtube and type in cat in the loo doing a poo and watch the clip
but anyway to your main question i think cats can only be trained when there kittys because now that he is using his litter its not going to be very likley to teach him/her to use the loo.
Do not do as Villhelm says and hurt your cat, this will only teach it to hate you. You can buy kits to help you train your cat, I have done it, have a look on ebay for "litter kwitter" it works! One of my cats was 3 years old, you can teach an old cat new tricks!
i found this for you….

Why not put the litter tray on top of the loo – that way your cat will be using the loo – what’s so important about using the loo instead of a litter tray?
Have you tried using a litter tray instead of the loo? Maybe you should try it a few times then you can decide if it’s fair to change the toilet arrangements for your cat.
The most important thing is not to hurt or upset your cat as (ethics aside) you may end up with a disturbed cat that goes somewhere you don’t want him to.
I agree with those who have pointed out that it’s natural for cats to dig and cover their droppings so your cat is likely to prefer a conventional tray. However there are cats that seem to think it’s fun to do what humans do so you could try using one of the kits that aim to teach the cat to use the loo like this one

But if the cat doesn’t want to play, please don’t insist.
