How can i make my cat box smell good?

I have a male unneautered cat, and when he pees it burns a hole i your nose. He doesnt spray, its from when he uses the pan. i have to scoop it every time he goes. is there any kind of litter i can use to have it not smell so bad?

why didn’t you get your cat neutered? you can use arm and hammer super scoop.

Try using "feline pine". you can find it in Giant Eagle or any pet supply store. It’s made with pine and it neutralizes(not deoderizes) the odor. Also, you only need to scoop out the poop(which means you don’t need to change the box every few days). when all of the litter turns to saw dust, you can dispose of it in the trash, or in you flower bed.
get rid of the cat. I will never understand people who have those critters. they crap in your flower garden, they get hair everywhere, they are unsocial, and claw curtains.

Fresh Step scoopable. That’s the only kind that works for us and I have three cats. Sam’s Club has the best deal. You can also get coupons from Fresh Step web site.
A product like Feline Pine works really well. Also, sprinkle baking soda in the box. Thirdly, use a litter box that has a lid on it where the kitty just walks inside the door type opening, does his duty, and walks out. It’s amazing how well that kind of litter box works. You might want to think about neutering him. There are too many unwanted stray cats out there. Take care of that kitty!

I had the same problem! Try the cat litter that has the crystals in it. If ur worried about the poop smell, try using "Purina Pro Plan Extra Care Indoor Cat Formula" food. It makes the poop smaller and helps reduce "key components of litter box odor." It costs more, but it’s DEFINITLY worth it. Especially when you are the one that has to clean the litter box out!!!!
If you can afford the $$, I highly recommend a mechanical litter box like Littermaid. They "scoop" the litter automatically, and all you have to do is throw out the waste container regularly. Littermaid’s own site charges a lot -I’d recommend going to http://www.amazon.com or simply doing a web search to find the best price; I got mine (I have two cats) for about $99, and it works very well to keep the odor under control, especially if you use a good-quality litter in it.
Get rid of your cat

I agree with the Fresh Step answer. Also, get some Febreeze and spray it in the area around the box.
Check to see what your vet has for products. They do specialize in things like this. Or they can recommend something.
Have the cat neutered. Heck, you can even have it done by the vets they have at Petco and some areas also have programs where you can have it done for pretty cheap.
Using a clumping litter is a good idea. Wash the litter box every few weeks. After every time you scoop, you could add a bit (couple shakes) of baking soda. It could be from the food he’s eating, or he could have a urinary problem – shouldn’t smell that bad.
I put arm and hammer in the bottom of my cats litter box before putting his litter in it.
Exquisite Cat Hard Clumping Litter for multiple cats works for me, maybe getting him neutered would help, too.
