How can I get my cat to stop scratching our mirrored closet doors?
Our cat likes to wake us up early in the morning by scratching the mirrored side of our closet doors. The doors then bang together and make a lot of noise. I have tried putting paper up, putting a scratching post near by and spraying the glass with lemon juice, but nothing is working. Any other suggestions?

It is seeing it’s reflection as another cat and is either fighting it or playing with it.
Don’t dewclaw. A cat still thinks it has claws and still wants to scratch at things. If he/she is not harming furniture don’t do it.
Maybe the cat thinks since he is awake you need to be up to. We had a cat that woke my mom every morning by sitting on her chest and licking her nose. Then when she was up if my mom didn’t go put fresh food or just shake the box over her bowl she would come and bite her on the ankle. Cats are smart and mom was trained. When you get up does the cat stop? If so it is lonely and wants company. When we got another cat this cat stopped waking mom up and biting her.
Toss a pillow or hacky sack at it something soft. Alot of good suggestions. Respond with something unpleasant repeatedly hopefully he will stop. Put something real slick on the glass and video tape the cat falling and sliding. LOL
declaw or cut nails
it ses it self
it thinks its another cat
put paper at the cats leel so she cant see herself
GET YOUR CAT A SCRATCHING POST!
Get ur cat a cat tree
Kick or throw them. jk, use a spray bottle with water, if they don’t like water
Hi
I feel really sorry for you that must be SO annoying but why don’t you try to cut an orange in half and then use it to wipe the mirrored section. When your cat goes to scratch it will NOT like the smell of the orange, repeat this every day until he stops, if this doesn’t work hang some foil in that place.
Good luck!
We have a similar problem — our cat sits and meows (loudly!) in front of the mirror during the night. We’re wondering if getting another cat might solve the problem, as perhaps she’s lonely. In our cat’s case, we only recently adopted her from a home where there were two other cats. Also, she only does it at our apartment in town, and if she manages to get us up, then she settles right down. When she’s at our home in the country, where there are four dogs, she leaves the mirrors alone and instead stalks the dogs. So we’re thinking it might just be loneliness.
HM maybe grab water and spray it but it will get mad and do it again.. o.o i suggest…put one of those baby blockages… o.o loll…. that might work or maybe just take out the mirror and put it somewhere else…
You can use an orange scented spray, which sometimes works to keep cats away from areas you don’t want them. Another suggestion would be to get a lot of double sided tape and put that where your cat wants to scratch. Cats don’t like the feeling of the tape on their paws, so usually they try it once and then never do it again. I know people who put tape on their counters for a week or so to train their cats to stay off of them. Another option would also be to get some No Go, which is a product that you can spray in areas to repel the cat as well. You can find it at any petstore by the bitter apple sprays and such. Hope this helps!
The cat might not like the scratching post you should get an other one. If they like that post they will use that and nothing else will be scratched up.
