How can I get my cat love being transported in the cat box (or whatever it's called) while I'm driving ???

He’s quite calm. But gets really nervous when I put him to this cat box (the box one uses for pets transportation -i don’t know how’s called:) to get out of town. I can’t let him out while driving cuz he’s very interested in what’s going on and keeps pouncing around (which’s not safe 4 my driving:) As soon as I put him to this box he starts that heart-tearing meowing . So what should I do to make him get used to the box? Tnx

I don’t know how other people have gone about getting their cats to like their carriers, but from the day I got each of my cats, I’ve had at least one carrier sitting out for them to explore, play in, sleep in, or whatever they wanted. Because cats like hidey holes, they are naturally attracted to the carriers because they are like their own personal caves (same reason they love boxes, paper bags, and cat trees). Since they’ve all had contact with the carrier and can use it to sleep in at their leisure, they are always willing to get in when we’re getting ready to go somewhere and usually stay pretty quiet. Some cats still do get stressed out when they travel and will meow if they’re in there for too long, but it’s usually not an issue.
If your cat still is getting super stressed about traveling, then you may have to resort to some kitty drugs, which your vet will prescribe. I’ve actually had to do this once or twice for my super old cat that hates to be in the carrier in the car. Usually she’ll sit on a passenger’s lap, but it that’s not an option, we’ll get a little something from the vet and she’ll just sleep through the trip. As long as you follow the prescribed dosages, cats do just fine, and its a nice quiet ride. Also, vets will generally prescribe the pills without requiring an actual visit if your cat is up to date with its annual checkups, etc.

Try putting him into the cat box (that’s what it’s called, or ‘cat carrier’ is another term for it) and leaving him there for ten minutes, then letting him out again … and do that three or four times a day until he gets used to being put in the box for longer periods of time and then being let out. He’s ‘crying’ because he isn’t ‘familiar’ enough with it to be SURE that you’ll let him out again, and add that to the ‘unusual movement’ of the car, and hes TERRIFIED … he may still ‘cry’ when you put him into the car at first, but he should ‘quiet down’ and be better when you are ‘on the road’ … but BE SURE that you have a good ‘collar and leash’ and can ‘let him out’ to walk around and ‘use the litter box’ (or the ‘dirt’ under the trees) occasionally … and NEVER leave him in the car while you go into a restaurant to eat … ALWAYS take his carrier out and set it right next to you when you eat outside, or take him out on his leash and let him ‘run around’ near you while you eat … and give him a ‘treat’ before you put him back into the car, so he’ll KNOW that you still love him …
Put the box in a place in the house where he can play in and around it and get used to it.
cats just hate traveling. talk to your vet. I have friend that would give her kitty pediatric benedryl under the vets supervision. it helped keep kitty calm and slightly loopy during car trips. The dose is different for cats age and weight. Cats are motion sensitive and don’t like being confined. Unless you start a cat off doing this as a kitten you might not be able to condition her to enjoy traveling.
Well you could not feed him 4 a while just let him get hungry NOW don’t go starving him just hold back on feeding him so when he can’t take it any more then get the best tuna or cat food there is and put it in the cat box thing. And when he gos in shut the door and lock it! And if that don’t work put him in head first but don’t kill yourself or him trying to put him in their and don’t do it lightly or he’ll get away from you! you sort of do a light shove on him into the box and when his head is in then kinda give his bottom a push and he’ll be inside of the box in no time! Now cat’s will never get use to the cat box! That’s like a person in jail they HATE it but would you rather let ur cat wondering around in ur car and maybe getting yourself in to a car accident and killing urself and ur cat or take some effort to putting him inside of the box and him wining? So yes he’s gonna be sad for a short while but that’s life and you have to deal with it don’t pitty ur cat because you have to travel and keep u and ur cat safe it’s NOT really such a big DEAL! ok first of all…you want to put him in the pet carrier back end first….
The meowing is normal…they all do that….
Try to put a towel in the bottom of the carrier….
give him some catnip toys to calm him…or give him the catnip directly…BEFORE you attempt to transport him…
I give it to my cats everytime they have to ride in the car…It calms them
toys and food inside, just like a dog.. crate him as much as possible feed him in his crate, put all his favorite things inside… dont give up.. take the time to get him used to it inside the house then move it into the car.
