Dogs mourn like that and they are individuals so it takes time. Just give the dog plenty of love.
The best thing i can say is dogs mourn too. When we had to put our dog down our other dog who was very very close to Him was very odd for a week. She would just pace and cry. We just showered her with as much love as we could and after she moved on we ended up getting another puppy. Now i am going to have to put her down and i know the other dog will go through mourning too but the best advice i can give is just try to shower her with love and attention.
Take Dozer for walks, give her lots of attention and affection. Play with her. Take her for rides in the car. Talk to her and keep her busy. It will take a while but, she will eventually get over this. My sympathy to you and your parents.
I’m so sorry for your loss. Give Dozer lots of love and attention. She’ll mourn for awhile as you all will. Try to keep yourself and Dozer busy over the next few days. Let her sleep with you if you don’t already. Good luck!
Dogs with separation anxiety exhibit behavior problems when they’re left alone. Typically, they’ll have a dramatic anxiety response within a short time (20-45 minutes) after their owners leave them. The most common of these behaviors are:
Digging, chewing and scratching at doors or windows in an attempt to escape and reunite with their owners.
Howling, barking and crying in an attempt to get their owner to return.
Urination and defecation (even with housetrained dogs) as a result of distress.

I would let you mom take your dog for a while
Let him get over her
The only problem is your mom may keep your dog
If that happens, I would just get a new one
I had a seven year old dog, an 11 month old puppy
The dog loved the puppy, the puppy died
The dog mopped around the house for days
She got better
My daughter wants a new puppy for her 7th birthday
We are thinking about it
Good luck
I am so sorry about the lost of the dog
it might be a red flag that the mother died of an infection ONLY 24 hrs after giving birth and the other dog died of unexplained causes in the same house. maybe you and your mother can do an extensive search inside and outside of the house. you can even ask your vet what are some of the things to look for. ask what plants are poisonous and to describe them to you. just as a precaution. my dogs are 31/2year old poms. they are brother and sister. i don’t know what they would do if one of them lost the other. i feel so bad for dozer, poor thing. the only thing i might try is to get another dog, same age, same breed, maybe that would ease dozers loss. this will not replace doobie, but maybe divert attention to help dozer. i know this is the last thing most people want to do, but this seems like a special situation. oh, love the names. good luck. I’m looking at my dogs playing right now, i really hope your mother thinks about getting dozer a friend.
