Put something that smells lemony near your tree, cats hate the smell of citrus and will avoid like the plague. I put a bowl with a lemon sliced in half in front of mine last year and that stopped them from attacking my baubles lol. But on the odd occasion that your cat has no sence of smell like my friends 16 year old tabby who if half blind and deaf, the occasional walking into the tree by accident may occur lol. Hope this helps
yes, all three of my cats sit in it and try and kill the tinsel and other decorations.
yea my cat dose to stop them just tell them off they will learn not to do it eventlly
yeahh its funny
Yes, my cats do that. It’s hard to get a cat to do what you want. If you clap really loudly in their ears they will run off, and if you keep doing it they will get the point. Another suggestion is to spray them with water whenever they’re in your tree.
i have 3 cats, and 1 of them is very playful an full of mischief, she has run up the tree an it fell over an the decorations had to be redone. she likes to pull a bauble or bow of it an i was sick of putting them back on so now there is 1 bauble and 1 bow in front of the tree an she tends to push them round the room an play, i keep them in front of the tree an she appears satisfied that they r there an hasn’t took anymore off. yay!!!
Get a spray bottle and spray your cat
I have not found a way to make them stop. Watch out for them to chew the wires as well. Don’t leave your tree plugged in unless you’re in the room. Our vet told us this weekend he’s already treated two cats for electrocution this season. Ours chewed the wires when we were out of the house (it was unplugged so they weren’t hurt). We got rid of our Christmas tree. Maybe we’ll try again when they are older.
Can you hang the tree like you would do with little kids? My parents and I did that one year. If you want to keep them out of the room, put pie plates down (unless its carpet); they hate the sound.
well I have yet to encounter the issue since I just enjoy my parent’s xmas tree and I don’t put one up
I will say spray bottle, a rattling a can with coins, and double-sided tape (they hate sticky things on their paws) are some things that they do not like
cats are natural climbers so they will almost invariably try to either climb or just hang out around the tree
When my cats always did that I made them get tired by using a laser. They got really tired and stopped climbing on the Christmas tree.
You could spray it with a bottle of water which will tell the cat he/she will get sprayed every time it climbs up the tree. Then he/she will stop.
One year my cat Precious climbed in our Christmas and the tree fell over with her in it! All the ornaments broke on that side of the tree. She wasn’t hurt but she never got in a Xmas tree again after that!
