Does anyone know if cat litter is bad for ferrets?
My roomate bought a ferret the other day, made it a litter box using cat litter, and it keeps sneezing.

Yep, clay litter is bad for everybody–ferrets, cats, people, and the environment.
I really really really recommend Feline Pine. It’s awesome stuff and all-natural. Won’t hurt if the ferret chews a little of it–clay litter clumps and can cause terrible, deadly bowel obstructions (not that most ferrets eat litter, but why take the risk?). There’s other all-natural litters too, like Swheat Scoop, Yesterday’s News (really good too), or World’s Best Cat Litter. If you can talk your roomie into switching, you’ll do everyone a favor!
the problem with using cat litter is the clay dust. When they step in it, it stirs up the dust and gets in their nose and they breathe it in, which can be really bad for them. For our ferret, we use the pine litter which has no dust, it works really well.
No don’t use cat litter, it’s really dusty and isn’t even good for cats let alone ferrets. I use Yesterday’s News and like it a lot. Other good ones are Feline Pine, and basically anything dust free.
