Do I have to Declaw my cat in Texas in order to rent a house?
I’m going to move to a house soon and I didnn’t know some landords require you to declaw your cat. I don’t want to do this to my cat. And I don’t have the money. Thank you!

You might call your local SPCA shelter, or find a rescue group, and they may be able to help you find places where the landlord does not require that barbaric practice.
They can say the house is a no- pet zone, but they can not require you to do mutilation on your pet.
To ‘de claw’ a cat is serious mutilation, it would be like having the top joint of your fingers cut off.
It is not allowed in civilised countries.
No – they can tell you its a "requirement" but as far as I know they cannot enforce it. I would just not mention about claws – just say you have a cat. If the subject is brought up, discuss it with the landlord and show them there are many other alternatives pointing out the declawed cats cause more problems like peeing outside the litter box which is more expensive to fix.
And print out a copy of this on declawing in case you need it.
