There’s this toy at Petsmart its a round blue toy that has a ball that goes around it and rolls. The middle is a little scratching post, and it only costs about 12 dollars. My kitten uses the scratching post in the middle but it’s not really a post, its connected to the toy but it still works. You can also replace it for a couple of bucks when it is worn out.

Why not make your own?

Just go out, find a peice of wood that fits what your looking for. Then go to the dollerstore and find one of those floor mats and staple it on.

Same thing as the one for $30 bucks.

Try Kmart or Walmart, they are usually made of layered cardboard , but they are cheap and work wonderfully.

There are disposable cardboard scratching posts (well, actually they mostly lie on the floor rather than stand up) that some cats really love.

Go to Walmart or a similar store and get SmartyKat Super Scratcher. It lays on the floor with a honeycomb weave in a cardboard frame, and has catnip inside. I allows the cat to stretch and claw. My cat loves it and it is approx $4.00. Now, that’s inexpensive and works better than the posts.

build one yourself – i bought a post from home depot and got carpet scraps from a carpet store – used a staple gun and got a very good cat friendly post done for $15.

Lots of really great answers for this, so here’s some other suggestions

I don’t know where you live, but Meijer has always had some great cat posts and trees for very inexpensive (I think our cat tree that went from floor to ceiling was $30). Walmart also has some for pretty cheap.

There are online pet supply places too, like http://www.discount-pet-superstore.com, http://www.valleyvet.com, http://www.petedge.com, and even general websites like Collections etc, and Harriet Carter usually have cheap pet supplies.

Best of luck! And if all else fails you can always make your own
