Catnip is it really good for cats?
I bought my cat catnip and a cat bed and it came with the cat nip, what really does that do to cats? He laid down in it and he felt so comfortable and hyped. I would just like to know what does cats see from it and how does it effect them.

Catnip makes them high, in human terms. Most cats get mellow and silly, some cats get spooked or hyper or even mean, and some cats seem immune to its effects.
Catnip, also called catmint, is an herb of the mint family. It has no effect on humans or dogs, and usually not on kittens under six months old. About 10% of cats don’t seem to get any effect from it, either.
It’s harmless, and they can’t overdose on it. It does stimulate their appetite so it’s sometimes offered to cats who don’t want to eat.

Pardon the terminology, but it is like crack for cats. It is totally harmless to them, and they thouroughly enjoy it. My cat would constantly roll and rub on the toys that had it inside as well as lick them to death! You can also grow something called cat grass. it is like catnip, but in the grass family. You plant it, put it in a dark area for a couple days util it starts to sprout. You then set it out and let your cat chew on it and eat it whenever it wants!
I don’t think that is a good thing for a bed! It makes them hyper. It comes in some toys, that’s OK because you can play for a while and then take it away. My cat does not like catnip — I could swear it gives her a kitty cat headache.
