This question is in regard to my new cat, Vincent. I recently adopted him (he was a stray at animal control) and he hates his carrier. He hates it even more when I turn on the car! He cries the whole time and scratches trying to get out. Worst of all, he had defecated in his carrier and once even urinated and defecated at once. This is horrible for both of us! I have to clean it all up, and then he has to get a bath, which makes him even more upset than he already is. Any suggestions to alleviate his stress/reduce the elimination in the carrier?
I certainly don’t take him in the car for fun….these incidents are soley on visits to/from the vet. He’s a good boy about the litter box at home though.

I have a female cat that i want to travel with me on flights or in the car. I would like the carrier to roll and have backpack straps, good ventilation, not too small (big enough for her to kind of get up and stretch), exterior pockets and be able to fit under the seat in front of me.

We are driving cross country for a move. We’ve been stopping after ten hours of driving, though, because I wasn’t sure how long it was safe for them to stay in the carrier without food/water/bathroom. However, this is taking a very long time! Since there are two drivers we could go 15-20hrs a day with no problem. How long is safe to keep them in the carriers before we stop for the night? They are all 6 years old and in good health. The careers do have beds in them.

I will be taking my cat to my parents’ this summer (a two day drive), and have to buy a carrier for my cat for the car. She is a very small cat (less than 8 lbs). Should I buy a hard or soft crate for her? She loves to confine herself into small spaces when she’s stressed, but when she’s in the car, she is most comfortable unrestrained (not a possiblity, I know).

How do I get my cat to get in a carrier. I haven’t been to the vet in 2 years because of what I now declare his "severe anxiety". He is scared of my family sort of except for myself and my brother (I’m 19 and he’s like 25 if that matters).
I really need to take him to the vet for worms and mostly vaccinations and other stuff.

One of my cats is very fearful of getting into a carrier and being taken anywhere. She’s had some bad experiences due to her being afraid. But she has a vet appointment today, and in about 4 hours I’ll have to get her into it again.
I’ve had the carrier out for a while. It’s large and has a soft rug inside, and my cats actually like to sleep in it sometimes (without the cage-door). Last night my husband put the door back on it and she’s acting nervous.
Any ideas on how to get her into it?

I have a cat that is terrified of the carrier. My father tried to get him in but he bolted back out and now he wont go near my father and hides under the table. We need to get him checked out after having work done. He is adopted so I dont know why this is so but I have had to cancel appointments because he just wont go in. My father hasnt been rough with him but he needs this post op check. Is there a technique? Any suggestions gratefully received.

every time i move out or try to take my cat to the vet, it becomes this big ordeal. as soon as he hears the carrier coming out of the closet, he runs under the bed. once i get him, i grab the scruff of his neck and try to put him in but he fights for dear life. im getting real tired of all these scratch marks on my arm but i dont want to drug him or do anything too forceful. any help?
