Our cat is a good cat and doesn’t really chew or scratch things but in the morning or sometimes at night he scratches at the carpet right in front of our bedroom or our roommates bedroom door. He’s started randomly scratching the carpet and we think he needs a scratch post but what about when he scratches at our bedroom doors? He can’t keep it up he’s ruining the carpet.

My 3 year old female cat gets restless in the winter, because she is such an outdoor cat. so she channels that restlessness on the furniture!! my mom is getting REALLY mad and she says if I don’t find a solution she wants to get rid of the cat! we have a scratching post for her, and we’ve trained her to use it. we use couch covers, anti-scratching spray, and nothing really seems to work. de-clawing is not an option, because her whole life is practically outside and she would be defenseless. what should i do i love my cat to death!

Hi. Looking around at cat furniture, cat condos, and scratching posts, I notice that some have mostly or all carpet, and some have mostly or all sisal rope. Which is better?

i have a cat i got from a friends. she is declawed on her front paws. i don’t believe in declawing because i believe it is painful and inhumane, but as i said i got her already declawed. i know cats need scatching posts but does a declawed cat need one? plz no mean answers about how having a declawed cat is inhumane. i know it is and don’t agree with it. thanx

Ahh i am sure i will have the usual "if your so worried about furniture then dont get a cat" posts, but i am hoping to just get some honest answers here..And for the record since i got some hate mail after asking my bay window question, i would NEVER declaw a cat..I am just looking for some answers to some questions and some solutions to some things from people who have the same issues…
I have owned cats before and never had a problem with them clawing at the rug..I recently had an older cat which i was taking care of and he seemed to love my rugs in the bathroom not to scratch on, just do that nesting motion with his paws…
I have Berber carpets in my home and i realized its the same material as scratching posts..For those of you with berber carpets, do your cats seem attracted to your floor to use as a scatching post?
Our home was just put with new carpeting when we moved in. We have pergo flooring throughout the home and just the 2 bedrooms and part of the living room has carpeting…I was just curious if cats are attracted to using the berber carpet as a scratchign post…
Also, for any reason has your cat scratched up your lamianate flooring?

Basically my boyfriend and I have started saving change in an old apple juice can (not easy to access, it makes it easier). Just before Christmas we’re going to roll all the coin and go shopping for our local animal shelter (btw it was voted Americas #1 shelter
). They have a wishlist on their site and while I am a dog person or even a little critter person I want to make sure we’re fair to the cats too. on their wish list they have trees and scratching posts, both of which are WAAAAY over priced. So I thought maybe I could stretch a buck further if I made some. I am both Crafty and Handy, just not overly knowledgeable of what should or should not go into one of these things, as I have never had a cat. Anyone with instructions or links, they’re greatly appreciated

Anything to protect my furniture T.T
(R.I.P Old sofa)
What all do I need to know about Nail Caps anyway…
Do they really stay on or anything else. Lemme Know.
I dont think declawing is right
-*Thinks of someone cutting the tips of my fingers off*-
I REALLY want the nail covers but not if they are a waste of money and the cat will keep scratching at the furniture with them on until he sucessfully rips through them. (Hmm. I wonder if cats stop scratching stuff up altogether with those things on after clawwing at stuff and nothing happens…)
Thank you all in advance!
(5 ***** Stars) If you REALLY know what you are talking about-LOL
