cat litter?

Hi I was wondering what brand/type of cat litter everyone uses? I have been useing fresh step, but everytime i clean hte litter box -I use half a box of fresh step litter. Is there any cheaper litter that is just as effective? I find that tidy cat stinks really bad, and burns my nose. Thanks everyone
yes I use clump scoopable litter. But sometimes the pee litter breaks up. So i do a complete change. i scoop the litter twice a day.

I use Special Kitty, from Wal-Mart. I have never had any problems with it.
You sound like a good kitty caretaker, cleaning the box twice a day!
Sounds like you need to clean it more often. Are you using the scoopable kind?
I use the Kirkland brand from Costco, it works great, isn’t stinky and lasts quite a while. Just make sure that you get the clumping kind- otherwise you pretty much have to empty the entire litter box every time you clean it.
Yes! Try woodstove pellets. Have you seen the "all natural" cat litters at pet stores? All they are is broken up wood stove pellets that cost twice as much. Check around, a local feed store or heating supply store should be able to let you know where to get some, or carry them. You can by a 20 lb. bag for $4 or less. I have many cats, and this works wonders! Good luck
I use Special Kitty, the Wal-Mart brand and sprinkle baking soda in it….it neutralizes the smell and the litter is twice as cheap.
Try Feline Pine…smells clean and absorbs the pee. It’s $10 a bag, but on the website there is a frequent buyer program and a rebate to get the 7 lb. bag for free the first time. Available at Petco and Petsmart.
If that’s too expensive, try any inexpensive but good quality pine litter.
Dr Elseys Precious Cat litter. It is scoopable and clumping.
If you scoop it every day at least once per day it does not get very smelly. I add more to the box and the odor is gone.
I only have to completely change the box about every three months. The clumps are pretty hard and come out easy.
I like it and I get it a PetsMart.
I have had a my cat for 6 years and the best kitty litter out there, hands down is Scoop Away. It does not have dust, so you won’t choke to death during cleaning, relatively cheap, cleans perfect, clumps well. You can buy it in WalMart but only in the States. For some reason they stopped selling it in Canada, so now I have to go over the border to buy it.
I have 5 cats and use Fresh Step Cedar. I have 4 litter boxes and they get cleaned every other day. As long as I clean them, I don’t have much trouble with the clumps breaking up, and the odor control is great.
My only complaint about it, and most litters is that the cats track it outside the box when they leave.
Occupational hazard of loving cats, I guess.
I am a fan of Feline Pine. If you have a Piggly Wiggly in the neighborhood it is VERY cheap. Or try to find some kind of compressed pine litter…the pee turns to saw dust and NEVER smells.
I’ve used several and the stuff from Wal-Mart is really good for the price. Stay away from the cheap stuff at Super K Mart. It breaks up more than anything I’ve used.

"scamp scoop" it’s clumping, doesn’t have any of the "perfume"
smells i don’t like and is inexpensive…comes in a 25 pound bag…
I use WoodyPet from Tractor Supply. It can be used for animal bedding (horses and rabbits and all) too. It works well. I buy it in the 30 pound bag. I have a big tote from Walmart that I keep the fresh stuff in and then old litter jugs that I fill up and keep by the litter box. You can dump it out and it won’t harm the earth. It’s just wood pellets. When the cats urinate the wood pellets swell and burst open and it turns into almost like powder. You scoop the doo doo out and shake the powder into the bucket, add some fresh litter and you’re done.
I use tidy cat scoopable, and I will use arm and hammer litter deoderizer about every third day and do a full litter change every 1-2 weeks I clean it out every day.
I’ve tried just about every new and different litter that is out there. I liked Swheat Scoop because it’s made of wheat and it smells good when it’s clumped, but I also found that if it got to moist it got goey and stuck to the bottom of the litterbox. I also liked litter pearls because there’s almost no odor, the only problem is that if the pearls get out of the box they go everywhere, and the litter is expensive. There used to be a product made from recycled newspapers, called Pawpurr or something like that, and it was very cheap and very lightweight, but didn’t control odor very well. Right now I use tidy cats crystal blend because the cats seem to like it, it clumps hard and does an above average job of controlling odor.
