Cat Eye Twitching?
Hi – I have a cat that is almost a year old. She is home alone most of the day because I am at work. I feel like she is lonely because she acts out alot when I do get home from work. I bought her alot of toys and a window perch to keep her busy during the day, but she still has these behavior issues. She climbs the curtains, attacks me, will bite sometimes pretty hard, plucks the furniture. I try to distract her with toys and play with her but the moment i stop, she starts acting crazy again. Then she will be fine afterwards and come sit with me. I am also worried because her eye will start twitching when she gets excited. She will sit and stare at me and one of her eyes will start twitching. It happens often. Should I be worried that something is wrong with her and thats why shes acting this way?

Part of it might just be that she is a young cat. They can be very energetic, and since they are just picking up the hunting behavior they can be kind of agressive. You can try a squirt bottle/water gun to keep her off the drapes, buy her a scratch post to keep her from gouging the furniture, and if she bites you make the bad kitty noise "FFSSST!!" and bop her *gently* on the nose with one finger.
She pens up a lot of energy by herself all day so if you can, play with her before you go to work, and give her lots of attention and playtime when you get home. I’ve found that those "feather on a stick" toys tire cats out nicely. Just swing it back and forth over her head so she has to jump for it, this will give her some good exercise too.
As for the twitching, that could be just a tic like some humans have. If she’s always had it and it doesn’t seem to be getting worse, it’s probably nothing. However, it could be more serious if you’ve used any over the counter (not prescribed by your vet) flea treatments on her (This includes collars, shampoo or neck drops.) Some over the counter flea stuff (particularly Hartz brand) contains chemicals that can give cats seziures, nerve disorders, or kill them. My cat almost died from Hartz flea drops, and her symptoms started with an ear twitch. If this is the case, bathe her in baby shampoo or PLAIN (not flea control) cat shampoo and take her to the vet immediately.
