There are numerous reasons for this. Cats are particular about the litter box and some more than others. Make sure the box is absolutely clean. Since you have more than one cat you may want to have more than one litter box. The cat could also have a medical problem you may not be aware of and is avoiding the litter box for that reason. If they experience pain while using a litter box many will associate pain with the box. Make sure the box is in a quiet private place and easily accessible to the cat. You also mentioned you changed litter brand. This could also be a reason. Some cats are just more particular than others when it comes to using a litter box.

unfortunately some cats can be selfish.and not want to share with other kittens. try setting up another litter box.with the litter you were previously using. sometime when kittens get use to one thing they have a strange way of telling us.they refuse to use or eat something else.other than what they are already use to.when you set up the other litter. place his poop in it. so that he knows it's for his use. and possibly the other kittens as well if he allows it. keep your fingers crossed. good luck!

Sheba jack has already mentioned this, but I would recommend you have a litter tray/box per cat. I know it sounds a lot but there could be all sorts of reasons why he is not using it. Dot them round the house if possible as one thing we found with one of our cats was that she wasnt being allowed to use it by the other 2! So if they are round the house then he is never stuck in a corner needing a wee and then not being able to go. THe other thing is that anywhere he has had a wee or a poo that is outside the litter tray, clean up as much as possible then sprinkle bicarb of soda, leave for a bit and then hoover up, this removes the smell without any harsh chemicals and such and discourages him from using that spot again. Sorry for long winded answer but I sooo know what you are going through here!
