Yes, but you need a crossover cat-5 cable.
If you don’t have crossover cable, you need 2 straight through cables and a hub or switch or router to connect the cables together.
Yes. Unless you have ethernet cards that do fancy autosensing (the only computers I’ve seen with such cards are Macs) you will need to use a crossover cable though.
Only if it’s a cross over cable.
And when you use a crossover cable, your "Server" computer, the computer that will be hooked to the cable modem to receive internet, must have two network cards installed into it. One for receiving internet and one for sending the connection to the other computer via.. crossover cable. You will also have to enable ICS (Internet Connection Service) on the "Server" computer so that your "Client" computer can connect.
If this is all greek to you. You may need to call a professional or your local area neighborhood geek to help you <smile>.
Or you could read up on it at http://www.wown.com
Good Luck
Do you mean can you network them together?
If so the answer is yes, provided they both have network hardware (possibly built in), and that you have the required cable. It’s a peer to peer network so the cable needs to have a crossover, so make sure it’s the right one…this is a mistake many people make.
Other than that, read the help stuff for your OS…I guess Microsoft, and it should all work nicely. Good luck!!
You can connect 2 pcs with a cross over cable or using a swtich/hub and 2 straight cables.

Yes, as long as the Cat 5 cable is a crossover cable.
