Can a cat lose its voice?
Three days ago my 1.5 year old male cat was locked outside over night. No one brought him in until I got up for work the next day and couldnt find him inside. He was in his "cat tower" I bought at petco and left on the patio for him.
Anyway, I noticed that now he can barely meow. Its all raspy and barely audible when it used to be loud. I think he lost his voice? Is this possible? Was he meowing at the door all night and no one heard him? Maybe that’s how he lost his voice? Any help or advice on what to do will be appreciated.
**He used to be an indoor cat until about 6 months ago and now he goes in an out often.

It’s quite possible that your cat lost his voice through constantly meowing at the door all night, or it might be a symptom of an upper respiratory infection.
A previous cat of mine developed laryngitis because she kept hissing at a stray cat that kept coming into our garden. I took her to the vets and after a couple of days on antibiotics, her voice was back to normal.
It does seem like they can go hoarse – I don’t know the official answer, but I’ve experienced the same thing on numerous occasions with my cats.
My cat lost her voice a few times. It’s just like people if we scream too much. It should come back soon.
