Am I hurting my cat scratching her?
Why is it when I scratch my cat’s lower back and close to her tail she gets rather antsy. Her ear goes down and her entire facial expression changes. Sometimes she wants to lick and sometimes she’ll growl. Am I hurting her? I can’t tell if she likes it or not.

most cats love to get petted their it is the place they cant really reach comfortable so when you scratch it shes happy and if she growls just pet her head and then go back to the tail and see what happens when your petting her she might just be grumpy.
My 1 cat does the same thing. Not really sure why they do it though. Someone told me once that scratching that area can be the equivilant of a kitty orgasm (don’t know if that’s true or not!) I really don’t think you are hurting her though. If she growls, just quit.
Well if you don’t know Don’t do it Simple
She probably doesn’t feel secure when you touch her there, or maybe its just a tender space on her body. She doesn’t like it, thats pretty clear, so don’t pet her there.
My kitty has a similar reaction to being petted by her tail. She starts wiggling her bottom and moving about. I don’t think it’s painful, I think it tickles her…?
